Warts and Plantar Warts

A virus causes foot warts. You may notice little black dots in the wart. People sometimes think these dots are splinters. They are the blood vessels that nourish the wart. You can get this viral foot condition anywhere you walk barefoot, such as in the local pool, karate studio, dance studio, locker room, or even from a pedicure salon.

We frequently address plantar warts, a prevalent foot condition in our practice. If you have any growths on the underside of your foot, which may or may not cause discomfort, there's a likelihood that you are dealing with this foot condition.

Contact us to have them removed before they multiply.

Corns and Calluses

Our caring podiatrists can help you with those painful corns and calluses. Treatment for this condition depends on the symptoms and foot stability. Never use a medicated corn pad or corn-removing product since these contain a strong acid that could lead to a chemical burn.

  • Shoes: Changing to more comfortable roomier shoes may help your feet clear up or prevent this foot condition.

  • Padding: To protect the area where the corn is located, you can use small pads that shield the area from friction.

  • Massage: Rubbing it following a shower with a pumice stone or a callus file to eliminate the thickened skin.

When conservative treatment options no longer provide comfort, it may be time to visit our podiatrist.

Prime Foot and Ankle Specialists will create your unique treatment plan. If you need surgical options, our foot surgeons can help you.

The procedure is virtually painless and is usually completed on an outpatient basis. A cortisone injection may also reduce pain caused by corns or calluses.

Foot Fungus and Athlete's Foot

It is caused by a fungal infection affecting the web of skin between the toes and the foot soles. Symptoms typically include burning, pain, itching, and scaling. Athlete's feet are highly contagious. When walking barefoot on contaminated floors and objects, people pick up these fungal infections.

This condition can even be passed from person to person. Although it can be treated with antifungal medications, you should always keep your feet dry and wear cotton socks and "breathable shoes”.

Prime Foot and Ankle Specialists offer various treatments. If you think you might have this condition, then contact us for a complete evaluation.
