A neuroma is an enlargement of the nerve that provides sensation to the toes. This enlargement can be due to poor foot structure, poorly fitting shoes, or foot trauma.
Symptoms of a neuroma are pain between your toes, swelling between your toes, pain in your forefoot, pain when you put weight on the ball of your foot, and numbness or tingling in the ball of your foot
Treatment for neuromas typically involves conservative methods such as padding, custom orthotics, oral anti-inflammatory medication, cortisone injections, or alcohol sclerosing therapy.
These are effective options for neuropathy in feet treatment and can often eliminate the need for surgery. However, surgical excision may be recommended if these conservative treatments do not relieve the symptoms.
